Leading up to his debut LP on POP TMRW, Israel’s Kino Todo presents two singles, Translator and 2004 from the forthcoming album. Adopting different realms of electronic music, whilst still employing a distinctive Kino Todo sound palette, each single meanders through an assemblage of sonic influences, blending various styles into two delicately produced tracks. 2004 adopts a different tact, diving deeper into Todo’s love for emotive breakbeat with angelic vocals and epic progression throughout. Consisting of Iain Cook (Chvrches) and fellow Glaswegian musician and producer Scott Paterson, Protection are releasing their debut EP Seeds I. A hugely varied body of work which reflects the broad range of influences and inspirations that embody Protection and their approach to making music, Seeds I EP transgresses genres, shifting from dark to light at multiple points throughout the 5 tracks. As its title implies, Seeds I is the first of much more material to come. Alexander Church hooks up again with Vincenzo for the second instalment in the Blackheart series on his Configurations of Self label. The Blackheart series is a collection of music with the main melodies coming from the Oberheim OB X8 and Sequential Trigon synthesisers. Church has said it aims to "forge our fondness for melodically driven music that is just as much for listening as the dance floor." Dark But Gray, Pandhora have a captivating EP called Signs on Art Vibes Music, which masterfully weaves together intense emotions and deep feelings. With a thematic focus on unrequited love, melancholy, and doubt, this EP offers a deeply immersive sonic experience. The release is taking us on a journey to long-forgotten places, filled with evocative sensations and surreal thoughts. Legendary producers Hernán Cattaneo and Marcelo Vasami deliver a sublime remix of the single, propelling it into new realms with its vivid and dynamic sonic palette. Progressive elements intertwine seamlessly with captivating melodies, enveloping listeners in a whirlwind of jubilant emotions and a sense of unrestrained freedom. Balance Music’s legendary compilation series returns for its 31st volume with an absolute stunner courtesy of UK DJ and producer, Tim Green. His own Eteri is one of the mix’s true highlights; a brooding, chugging stunner led by a driving bassline and the beautifully melancholic sequence a chime melody. The beloved identical twin duo, Lunar Plane makes their highly awaited return to Stil vor Talent with a new EP, aptly titled Waiting. A throwback to their early steps in the music scene, this new EP connects the dots between the uplifting artlessness of their juvenilia with the full-grown precision of their most recent pieces. After a string of contributions to the catalogues of Anjunabeats, Disco Halal and 2DIY4, then followed by a few months turning their attention to digital art as a way to get their second wind during the pandemic, Emre and Mert serve up an EP that sums up their all-embracing, dance-focussed paradigm. Fevered and adventurous to the bone. One of the most exciting young talents to surface from the Berlin underground as of late, Sames has been making waves in and around the big city with some tasteful deliveries, including his hot-off-the-press Paramount EP for Wanderlust Records. Bringing in his streamlined yet highly sensual touch to the Light My Fire roster, here comes his newest single, Emanation. GRAMMY-winning producer and one third of electronic trio NERO, Joseph Ray (Anjunadeep), announces his new single Blue Nights, with an evolving lead and a rolling bassline, Joseph Ray showcases his expansive production style that has earned him support from DJ Koze, Solomun, Pete Tong, Hunee and more. ANNA announces her debut ambient electronic album Intentions, inviting the listener on a journey of spiritual transformation through sound, out on Mercury KX. The album is a unique encounter where ANNA’s spiritual and electronic music sides become one. Intentions is the result of ANNA’s self-realisation journey – opening her mind and forever altering her creative process and worldly outlook, trading in her tougher, club-driven production for sound healing and ambient sensibilities. Also included are remixes by London-based electronica and techno producer Max Cooper and Ivor Novello Award nominee and Grammy Award winner Jon Hopkins, I recommend all the tracks in this album, a real beauty which is why I included two tracks in this mix. Jan Steiner - Meet Her At The Jazzkantine, includes two dreamily atmospheric, downtempo organic house cuts from the Ireland-based artist, out on Londam. Snowedin - Rabbit Valley (Where The Shadow Ends) is a quality EP with a nice variety of sounds with remixes by Chris IDH and Söhns, Beije, I went for the Reprise version. Tropics (All My Thoughts), aka Christopher Ward, breaks his brief hiatus with soulful vocal led offering Scattering, which sees a blend of reverb soaked keys and broken, steady drum grooves combining for a dreamy atmosphere alongside signature vocals. ’Scattering’ stands strong as a true representation of Tropics’ developing sound, one that wets the pallet for more to come. Following on from Earth: I, which was described as “timeless sound art” by Gezeitenstrom, Narrow Skies return with a stunningly evocative EP Earth: II, that is deeply emotive, lyrically challenging, and musically progressive. Inspired primarily by the climate emergency, while simultaneously weaving in adjacent themes of love lost and the passing of time, the album gently juxtaposes feelings of unease and uncertainty with a deep sense of nostalgia and comfort. There are lots of super ambient tracks to be heard on the Echoes Blue Music and AllAmbient websites. Finishing the mix off with Tim Angrave - Shimmer from my forthcoming album on Numen Records which is out end of June. I love combining ambient textures with orchestral instruments and modern beats.
