Special podcast dedicated to London based Numen Records founded by Mozez (Zero 7 / Nightmares On Wax) who I’m very happy to be working with. Check out Silk Vol.3 which includes Tim Angrave - Devotion and sublime music by Mozez, Gelka, Jon Kennedy, Tom Quick, Whitelight, Wa. Also very happy to be involved with Madlock’s superb 3rd Avenue label with a remix of an Alex Donofrio track called Riverside Drive, there are four very different versions to check out all very special in their own way.

Starting the mix off with Tim Angrave - Devotion (Numen Records / Silk Vol.3) which is a deep hypnotic sensual electronic chillout track which can be played softly and quietly to relax to or loud for a very different effect. Max Cooper’s new album project Unspoken Words is out in March on Mesh. Cooper has been exploring the difficulties of communicating with words as part of the Unspoken Words project. "The idea was to take the writings of Ludwig Wittgenstein, who tackled this question of the difficulties of using words to explain ourselves and our place in the world, and to have the AI system re-interpret these writings in visual form.” A beautiful Tom Quick Instrumental of Patience by Mozez next which has a really nice vibe to it, I can imagine sitting by the sea watching the sun setting to this one. Volume two taken from Deorbiting's latest long-player Space House, here comes Veil EP, featuring two cuts from the album plus an exclusive rework from Stil Vor Talent bossman himself, Oliver Koletzki. A low-slung downtempo ballad into serene mental scapes and vast expanses of sound, Veil will tickle the fancy of all those in search for meditation both on and off the dance floor with its adaptive groove, at ease both in club context and home alone, whether the sun shines bright outside or when you want that sensitive touch of Deorbiting you into the zone effortlessly. Serhe returns to Haute Musique with his two track EP Alone With Nature, a slowed down deep organic house track that's true to its name. Masterfully executed percussion programing floating over warm pads, flowing water streams, chirping crickets, singing birds, monkey chatter and nature. A truly relaxing piece of work. On Remix duties, the emperors of mellow moods aka Mellow Men deliver their signature rebellious, broken 2/4 electronica vibes. Manu Pavez (3rd Avenue) next with Moments which is mesmerising, keep an eye and an ear on Manu the Little Groover, I expect more great music from him. Distinguished duo Tinlicker (Micha Heyboer and Jordi van Achthoven) release their exceptional album In Another Lifetime via independent record label Anjunadeep, some real beauties on the album but the breaks tunes I Am Free is my favourite. The Jayden Klight Remix of Riverside Drive by Alex Donofrio (3rd Avenue) next which is that wonderful crossover of chilled / electronic, Jayden also loves to include real instruments and non-synthesized mediums in his music. KIDSØ, a curious experiment that combines the talent of two drummers, Moritz Grassinger and Martin Schneider, focuses on creating rhythms, beats, with all kinds of percussions. Analog instruments with effect-racks, sounds and samples are shredded and crafted into new melodies. Their new single Breathing would fit more into the neo-classical box as it echoes the sound of a beautiful Schimmel piano. The melody brings out melancholy that hits its peak when the strings come to the picture. These melodies combined with straight down beat and analog synthesizers reminisce of some darker memories of the duo. Breathing was an inspiration for the rest of their album Fir which will be released via Embassy of Music. Grammy-nominated duo ODESZA return with their first new music in nearly four years with brand new single, The Last Goodbye on Ninja Tune, featuring acclaimed blues and soul singer Bettye LaVette. The Last Goodbye was initially conceived when the duo discovered the original vocal in Bettye LaVette’s 1965 song Let Me Down Easy. Impressed by the power of the Blues Hall of Famer’s voice, the duo then deconstructed and rebuilt the track fusing cinematic sweeping synths and a modern electronic sound to complement Betty’s rich vocals. The single was premiered on The Zane Lowe Show on Apple Music 1, confirming what many fans had been hoping for after spotting cryptic clues on the duo’s website which teased their return to music. ODESZA says: “This song was born out of the concept of trying to bring these lasting, defining musical pieces like the 1965 release of ‘Let Me Down Easy’ by Bettye LaVette into a modern and contemporary electronic setting. The idea of bringing two worlds together, that at first seem distant, has always been something we’ve been drawn to. It was an absolute honour to be able to work with Bettye’s voice over the course of writing the track. She’s able to convey emotion with her vocal work unlike any other. To date, this has been one of the more fulfilling songs we’ve had the chance to work on as artists. We hope everyone who listens enjoys the track as much as we did making it.” Cologne based female producer / DJ Sandilé curated a rich selection of tunes under her moniker Z, oscillating between electro pop, breaks, ambient and trip hop, a brilliant album with nine versatile tracks where the groove is always in the center, with meaningful and magic vocals. Sofi Paez is an utterly gifted musician born in Costa Rica, her songs often combine more than a decade of experience with the piano fused with thoughtful textures and sounds. The ambient ep Zäme by gifted artist Setsuna (Sine Music) is a real musical treat, I enjoyed all the tracks in here and highly recommend you listen to them all. Penultimate track is my Riverside Drive Remix for Alex Donofrio (3rd Avenue) which is an evolving ambient / electronic deep and moody version with the emotional vocal included which was also done by the gifted Alex. Lastly a remix of ORI’s track Parachute by the amazingly talented Yehezkel Raz who is a pianist and film score composer.
