The Chillout Lounge Mix - Uplifting

Lots of uplifting music around at the moment, I hope this mix gives you a boost.

Opening with a wonderful deep, moody atmospheric track from the gifted producer / DJ Deenara (Trndmsk) who blends various genres into her tracks and sets while keeping her own distinct sound. Mysterious studio hermit Nyvs joins Ready Mix Records for release number 252, armed with a pair of mellow melodic gems, remixed by Ilias Katelanos and Khaaron. Analog gear-head and anti-loudness warrior Nyvs first cut, Adenosyn, is warm and elegant, showing off shimmering organic-sounding synth chords and languid, dreamy rhythms in its nearly 8 minute journey. Drumpoet is more than proud to present a compilation celebrating the label's 15th anniversary, with special performances by iconic artists such as Herbert, Roman Flügel, Frank Wiedemann, Manuel Tur, Lauer, John Daly, Kalabrese, Manuel Fischer, Nicola Kazimir, Ripperton and Jimi Jules, from 15 Years Drumpoet, is a wonderful edit by Lost Heroes for All Is Well favourite Sajkvfighosgo which sums up the essence of the original and gives the track a new twist. Following on the heels of BBC Radio 1 plays (Pete Tong, Chillest Show), DSP features and his debut club night, Notchyy (Ad Hoc Records) follows up Ruskin with the soothing, lush, melodic house track Gone. The sublime label Lake Underground Music presents DIVERS Vol.001 which has lots of great tracks to choose from, Judi Watanabe - Amaterasu fitted best in this mix, beauty. Of Norway return to Connaisseur Recordings with a stellar three-track EP called Dolphins which encapsulates their inventive sound, bordering on genre territories throughout the dance spectrum; a praise for breaks in three different shades, summery atmospherics and super hooky chords engulf the brooding breaks of the title track, with a nod to the past while keeping the production and intention of the track leaning into the future. Acclaimed DJ / producer Marley Carroll releases Cathedral which finds his production at the intersection of classic underground club music, electro, and UKG with a moody track that’s heavy on the low end and infectiously dance-able. TSHA returns to Ninja Tune with her long-awaited debut album Capricorn Sun, which is both a statement of where she is right now as an artist and producer, but also a reflection of time she spent writing and recording the album, and the impact of global events, familial upheaval and personal struggles during that period. Also on Ninja Tune Swedish producer DJ Seinfeld (real name Armand Jakobsson) returns with new single Lost Island, his first new music since the release of his critically acclaimed 2021 album Mirrors; created at the start of 2022 for the Mirrors live show Lost Island has quickly become a stand out moment within Armands set. One of my own next called Space Between from the forthcoming album Innermost (Numen Records); Space Between is about reflecting on the unnoticed important things in life that sometimes only become apparent when they’re gone. It can be what isn't said, what isn't done that is the definitive Space Between. Blending blissful melancholic vocals, definitive rolling bass and beats with a flowing, evolving, hopeful ambient atmosphere and quieter contemplative moments, make the Space Between. LA-based singer and multi-instrumentalist Kadhja Bonet releases hypnotic, Kate Bush-esqe new single JGS (Just Getting Started) on Ninja Tune, another highly personal release for the supremely talented vocalist. Hercules & Love Affair share Dissociation a final taster of upcoming album In Amber; about the track, Andy Butler says: “’Dissociation’ is a song that speaks to the fatigue I have felt brought on by the both the distortion of self and simultaneous fracturing of a coherent, shared, real-time experience of life that technology and specifically, the insidious personal interjection of social media into our lives has produced. Sung by the delicately emotive voice of Elin Ey, the detachment and increasingly programmed self doubt and mistrust of what we see and read has created a collective need to ‘dissociate’ on some level. As I chime in the chorus, “I am here, I am here, reel me in, reel me in”, the possibility of human intervention seems possible and incredibly comforting.” Tristan de Liege, the US based producer with a prolific work rate who regularly releases a couple of albums a year in various guises and has recently collaborated with the likes of Emancipator, Ash Walker, Asta Hiroki and more, releases his latest album Refractions, a highly versatile work that incorporates far-ranging styles from jazz to neo-soul to classical and electronica. Brilliant Dub Techno artist Tim Kossmann follows up his 2020 album Home with Into The Unknown on Lucidflow, journeying further into to introspection through the medium of immersive textural ambient. Riva marks an unexpected change in Niklas Paschburg’s (7K!) sound, as he immerses himself in a sound closer to EDM, with the help of renowned Berlin electronic producer Frank Wiedemann (WhoMadeWho, Ellen Allien, Ben Watt, and many more) they were able to make this idea come to life, complementing the piano and accordion, Riva is full of rhythm, an explosion of colors written in part during a stay on the shores of the Adriatic Sea, in Croatia, where Niklas spent some time at the end of winter 2020.
