The Chillout Lounge Mix - Verve

See this content in the original post

A mix full of verve and engaging new music, calmer and atmospheric vibes later on to chill.

Daniel Suge has had multiple releases independently but Afanc had to jump on board to release this beautifully meaningful EP Ventifact, which is for Daniel’s mother, Nicola, who passed away earlier this year (2022) and it contains songs produced in the weeks following. This EP isn’t only personal in meaning but you can hear the anguish and release in each one of the tracks. EYNKA are back on Stress with their latest single Beyond Us, an atmospheric, breaks inspired record intertwining heaps of reverb, pads and synths with female vocal layers to create a euphoric track; evoking emotion which is at the centre of every EYNKA record. Their musicality shines through in this piece as each layer builds and merges together, creating a rich, complex sonic landscape. With a range of effects, rhythmic leads and simple beats, this track is a consumable masterpiece which is fit for your warehouse rave, after party or night time drive. Latchmere Groove release their debut single, entitled Principio, on Trutopia's imprint Night Mayors. Traversing through the UK's plethora of sub-genres, Latchmere Groove embody a tantalising cross section of underground sonics within this deep, soothing late-night dance floor filler, the euphoric pads and bold breakbeats combine with dazzling effects. Golden Features (Ninja Tune) has turned out to be an apt name for the artist born Tom Stell. It’s a nod to the gold mask he wears while performing, but the Australian electronic producer has had a literally golden run since bursting onto the scene in 2014, with two platinum and six gold ARIA certifications for his tracks, 275+ million global streams for his music, an acclaimed and beloved debut album in 2018’s SECT (#1 ARIA Dance Albums Chart, #1 iTunes, Triple J’s Feature Album) an accompanying tour that included two sold out Sydney Opera House shows, a closing set at Falls Festival, slots at major US festivals including Ultra Music Festival and Coachella, and forming the BRONSON project and self-titled album with stadium-conquering US electronic duo ODESZA. Enter Sisyphus, Stell’s second album, named after a Greek mythological character who received eternal punishment for trying to cheat death. Taking cues from this doomy tale and the heady atmospheres of Berlin’s clubs, Sisyphus also demonstrates a contemporizing of Stell’s sound, with his signature dark soundscapes reaching new levels of sophistication and impact. A new offering from London-based duo Awkward Moments, comprising of Mimi Xu – producer and electronic composer, and MAGUIRE, a multi-instrumentalist and lead vocalist; Life On Venus tells the playful tale of two female lovers trying to reconcile through the wondrous power of psychedelics. Copious amounts of mind bending substances and a loss of inhibitions are no doubt the key to genuine intimacy, right? We must transcend in order to connect. Oh the irony. This intense connection gets turned on its head when the Awkward Moments pair hand over the reins to their male producer and DJ friends to interpret this hyper feminine love story. A collection of remixes by the likes of – Ewan Pearson, Craig Richards, Frank Wiedemann, Trey Mirror, Sasha & Hans Berg to name a few – will become part of a limited edition vinyl art project, along with a performance art piece and accompanying visuals by Norbert Schoerner. Horses by Tokyo Fan Club, on John Digweed’s acclaimed label Bedrock Records is such a cool sound and eases this mix into a different vibe and mood nicely. GRAMMY award winning producer / DJ Sharam delivers a brand new take on The Rain (Positiva), the 2019 club classics which were originally releases as three distinct mixes (New York, London, Detroit) designed for different floors, and featured the vocals of Adam Englefield, aka Bengle. Helmsman of the influential Yoshitoshi Recordings, which has been at the forefront of electronic music for over two decades, Sharam's Transatlantic Mix expertly combines the elegance of the New York mix with new delectable melodies and drums crafting yet another uniquely uplifting rendition in the process. The sublime Ready Mix Records, Focus compilation series is back where they highlight an artist's past and present body of work, released on their network of labels. Focus: 011 shines the light on their youngest Polish producer Salski who’s sounds I love! With over 7 years of producing under his belt, Salski appears on some great labels such as The Purr Music, One Of A Kind, Kommunity, Haute Musique, Oh! Records Stockholm, Sound Avenue, Spring Tube and Cafe De Anatolia to name but a few. Focus: 011 showcases a selection of Salski's discography on their network of labels which includes 11 Original tracks and 4 remixes for artists such as Hraach, Addex, MKay and Rishi K (RIP). December has gained golden colors thanks to My Soul, released on Art Vibes, a magnificent EP of three impressive tracks making us travel and dance introspectively in a very special way. Courtesy of Ukrainian producer Jean Vayat and American singer / producer Evelynka, My Soul takes us into a sphere of dance and reflection through powerful synthesizers and progressive beats. The beats go hand in hand with Evelynka's spatial vocals, guiding us to a place where calm turns into euphoria. Illich Mujica is a Venezuelan born, New York City-bred DJ who plays uplifting melodic tunes blended with dark and mysterious beats. His magnetic presence and spellbinding universe were displayed at Amaya Society in NYC and Camp Festival 2022. With his latest EP, The Constant Impermanence, Mujica shows that the right track can transcend the opposites; day and night, east and west, light and dark. The appropriate combination of beats and vocals can unlock both the doors of our hearts and those of the clubs. KARLÏ’s slow motion remix allows listeners to appreciate the original track’s complex, intricate layers. Label staples and rising newcomers take on Kapote’s latest EP on his own imprint, Toy Tonics, remixing three stellar collaborations with New York soul singer Kosmo Kint, Tom Jarmey, delivers a warm, dubbed-out remix of Misbehave. Soaked in delay and jittering melodies, Jarmey’s vision adds an ethereal touch to the original track. Belgian producer Compuphonic returns to Anjunadeep with two downtempo instrumental tracks Lapis Lazuli / Emerald, blending organic instrumentation with downtempo electronic production, Compuphonic showcases his hybrid sound, and demonstrates why he's been supported on BBC Radio 1, 6 Music and KCRW. I’m very happy to have Closer and a remix of a Frank Joshua track called Loneliest Place In The World on the sublime Numen Records. Closer is a deep, groovy and emotional chillout track with a Balearic vibe. The chuggy rolling bass over a snappy percussion, gentle ambient pads and a sublime vocal express the more sensual side of Tim Angrave. Made for sharing with those close to you, ideally around sunset time and in intimate scenarios. I went deep into remixing Frank’s tune, stripping the original back and blending ambient meaningful sounds around the memorable vocals of Frank Joshua and Tony White's sublime piano. Ludvig Cimbrelius is a hugely talented and versatile artist with many projects worth checking out, the latest release is called Love Letters From The Sky; love letters received and translated to melodies. One of his other projects is called Illuvia and he has an album of the same name, he says about the album Illuvia “Most of the music on this album came to me during a period of inner darkness. Music has always been my path of light in life. A door to the love that is always here. With the sounds streaming through my mind like soft light shining through the cracks of a wall came a new name to highlight this power of music, to lead us on and lift us up no matter how far from the light we may perceive ourselves to be. The illuminated path is always right here.” I included another track from The Future Sound Of London and there new release called A Space of Partial Illumination because they are amazing! Lusine is the stage name of Jeff McIlwain, an ambient / IDM musician. A native Texan, McIlwain now resides in Seattle, in 1998, he attended California Institute of the Arts to study 20th century electronic music and sound design for music and film. Hailing from Sydney, Australia, Timothy Poulton started producing his brand of cinematic beats as a soundtrack for the end of the world. Debuting in 2021 as Timothy and the Apocalypse with his full-length album Future So Bright established him as a serious player on the downtempo/trip-hop scene. For his forthcoming track Engine Check, I had great fun remixing and got very much into the flow! The superb producer, singer / songwriter, beat-maker, mixer, remixer 9Theory has also stamped his skills on the wonderful release.
