British composer and Reflections very own rising star Cephas Azariah reveals his newest composition Kintsugi alongside the announcement of his debut album Joy Paradox, due 21 October. Since joining Reflections in 2021, Cephas quickly became a standout artist on the label with his remarkable ability to capture the emotional essence of personal tales through composition and arrangement. One of the most memorable spots was Cala D'Hort and the coastline near Es Vedrà. While there, I recorded the morning sounds using my field recorder, which you can hear throughout the tracks on the EP. Before my visit, I learned that Es Vedrà and its surrounding areas are believed to have spiritual significance and a positive aura. I could feel this energy during my time there. A special thanks to Ranj Kaler for his brilliant broken beat interpretations. Jakatta, real name Dave Lee, produced the original version of 'American Dream' in 2001, sampling two Thomas Newman pieces from the soundtrack of the 1999 film American Beauty - 'American Beauty' and 'Dead Already'. The single went on to reach #3 in the Official UK Singles Charts and also reached the top 40 in Ireland, Spain and Belgium. Arriving with his signature blend of organic house, PROFF adds a groovy drum beat while maintaining the distinctive tuned percussion and beautiful Thomas Newman sample found in the original. The result is a vibrant and danceable track with plenty of reflective breathing space in the middle. Ku De Ta (New State Music) round out the summer with Hold On their new deep & melodic house single, with Swedish singer-songwriter Jonatan Bäckelie providing his own unique, soul-searching lyrics & vocals. Combining elements of deep house, melodic house and lowkey tech, Hold On is a lush and brooding electronic music piece that floats effortlessly across genres driven by its melancholic chords and soul-searching vocal, all adding up to create an emotional musical journey. Ku De Ta - “We were connected with Jonatan via a publisher to whom we sent the Hold On backing track. The lyric is co-written by Jonatan and Helienne Lindvall and Jonatan’s vocal just instantly gelled with the deeper flavours of the music. It’s something a bit different from us as it’s a more moody and emotive musical piece but it’s totally on point for now.” Magro originally hails from Ludwigsburg, close to Stuttgart, in southern Germany. Jono McCleery is an English singer-songwriter who creates timeless music that is just as much influenced by the electronic and avant garde as it is by the more traditional folk and soul cannon. Since his self-released debut, Darkest Light, came out in 2008, Jono has released a string of albums via Ninja Tune Recordings, and collaborated with fellow artists across the musical spectrum including Maribou State, Portico (Quartet), and Maceo Plex.
