The Chillout Lounge Mix - Drama

A mix full of memorable, dramatic and varied feelings. Every emotion can be used to invent amazing, beautiful creative musical art.

Sublime and perfectly produced cutting-edge ambient techno masterpiece made in 1996 by unsung Detroit hero Neil Ollivierra, an album as underrated as it is essential. Many years after its original release on UK label Ferox Records, Soundtrack [313] still provides a deeply futuristic aesthetic experience, warm and emotional electronics, along with glistening melody lines that create a peaceful, relaxed environment. This album possesses a formidable aptitude to always instil its listeners with a life affirming feeling of serenity. A true timeless and unique classic that exists within its own genre and which still pushes the envelope of electronic music that transcends the club experience. This expanded release includes 4 bonus tracks (6 tracks on CD / digital), a liner note by the artist, a 72 photographic collage of the many people who inspired this music and liner notes by composer Neil Ollivierra aka The Detroit Escalator Company. I enjoyed going more chilled with Mozez on our latest release called Love and Tenderness, his blissful vocals take centre stage and tell a lovely story as always. Akamundo by Jose Padilla & Chris Zippel - Mixe Vol.1 Including the fantastic Salta Mortale's Stella Polaris Remix and a special Sunset Edit of the original recording. "I had the honour of curating a part of Jose Padilla’s musical journey with him in Ibiza, Spain." “We’re all just walking each other home.” Jose Padilla (4.12.1955 - 18.10.2020) With deep respect. German based producer Sue:Ann shares her latest sonic soundscape EP No^Re on Steven Weston’s label Blank Dust. Crafting a musical landscape that celebrates her unique individualism, Sue:Ann orchestrates a harmonious fusion, intertwining ethereal dreamscapes with an invigorating pulse, blending diverse electronic genres into an unparalleled sonic tapestry. Calling home to two locations in Bavaria and the Baltic Sea, the artist cites the rhythmic commute between the two as a major influence behind her best work. Each location serving a different purpose in identifying the background behind the song, the artist moves like a lonely explorer, allowing her music to travel with her as she creates a perfect balance of reverie, melancholy and warm beats. Her upbringing, steeped in a rich tapestry of musical exploration and cultural immersion, shapes her artistic trajectory. Raised by educators versed in the language of music, Sue:Ann honed her skills on the piano and drums, eventually gravitating towards electronic realms despite early forays into rock bands. With her debut composition, Gilderoy, recently released on the esteemed Anjunadeep Reflections label, and promising collaborations on the horizon, she emerges as a luminary in the making, poised for a radiant future in the realm of electronic music production. Igor Garanin makes his Colorize debut with the Something New / Glacier EP. London-based producer Igor Garanin impresses with a stellar two-tracker this week, exploring a range of textures and atmospheres on two exquisite records. On Glacier Igor recruits PROFF for a moody, breaks-laden production, incorporating elements of indie electronic into the track through slick guitar riffs and flittering grooves. Woven Crescent comes to Enhanced Chill from Blugazer and Shelley Harland. The dreamy textures of American producer Blugazer touch down on Enhanced Chill once again with his third record of the year on the label, building on The Home Between My Walls and Borrowed Memories. On Woven Crescent he is joined by British singer / songwriter Shelley Harland whose vocals are enchanting, perfectly suited to the track's airy, nebulous atmosphere. Blugazer's production is pristine: effervescent synths shimmer over restrained rhythms to make this a soothing marvel. Fallin' – the Perfect Anthem for the Indian Summer: A Blend of Organic and Electronic Vibes. Alexander IV is one of many pseudonyms used by eclectic Dutch producer, multi-instrumentalist and illustrious tunesmith, Joris Feiertag. As a music maker largely known for his club friendly offerings, Joris uses this alter ego to delve into the more rootsical side of his sonic output - taking in hip-hop, jazz, funk and soul influences along the way. Fallin is a masterful fusion of acoustic and electronic elements, featuring acoustic drum breaks, field recordings, guitars, and melodic textures, seamlessly intertwined with syncopated warm synths and deep Reese bass. This combination creates a unique soundscape that is both refreshing and captivating, making it an ideal tune for late summer days and nights. The creation of "Fallin" took an exciting turn when he felt something was missing in the instrumental version. The solution came in the form of a collaboration with Fractures, whose acapella vocals added the perfect finishing touch. Joris' innovative approach to incorporating Mark's voice involved reversing, speeding, and chopping up the vocals to create a unique auditory experience. With releases on the likes of All Day I Dream, Anjunabeats, Kindisch, Days Like Nights and Rebirth, to name just a few, Madraas’ organic and melodic-driven sound has already seen heavy support from industry heavyweights such as Above & Beyond, Hernan Cattaneo, and Eelke Kleijn. Unveiling more fresh music, the Italian pairing steps out on Blaufield Music for the first time as label bosses Booka Shade invite them to remix their 2010 production, Regenerate - delivering a dreamy, hazy and spirited journey through vivid soundscapes built for those sun-soaked summer days. London based singer-songwriter Robyn Sherwell presents a soul-stirring rework of Anjunadeep label mates BAILE & Kauf’s 2019 record Painting Out. First heard in 2019, Brooklyn-based BAILE made his formal Anjunadeep introduction with his ‘Painting Out EP’, featuring the compelling vocals of songwriter and composer Kauf. An idyllic downtempo production, the pair captured the perfect balance of delicate atmospherics, electronic production and a haunting vocal to set the tone, destined to become a fan-favourite. Over 3.6 million streams later, Reflections singer-songwriter Robyn Sherwell steps up to re-imagine this Anjuna classic for the Reflections Revisited series. Flaunting her signature blend of folk & soul, she gently serenades us through an acoustic production of soft guitar, ethereal backing vocals and humming strings. Nilüfer Yanya formally announces her new album My Method Actor, out on Ninja Tune. As a whole, Nilüfer Yanya’s third album asks questions with no easy answers. It is a supple, expansive body of work that peers into the crevices of life, exploring them with comforting strings, skittering beats, soul-tinged melodies and swooning harmonies. It asks, who are we? Why do we follow the paths we follow? What is at the heart of it all? Following on from To See You Again, his debut single release on Berlin imprint Sonar Kollektiv, English singer-songwriter Jono McCleery delivers his second opus for the label, entitled So Messed Up. Jonos’ music is just as much influenced by the electronic and avant garde as it is by the more traditional folk and soul canon. Since his self-released debut, Darkest Light, came out in 2008, Jono has released a string of albums via Ninja Tune Recordings, and collaborated with fellow artists across the musical spectrum including Maribou State, Portico (Quartet), and Maceo Plex. Over the years his music has received support from Gilles Peterson, Jamie Cullum, Phil Selway (of Radiohead), Lauren Laverne and many more, whilst touring internationally with Bonobo and Jamie Woon. As well as having over 50 million streams worldwide on Spotify, his music has been used in a number of television shows including Queen Sugar, Start Up and This Is Us. Jono sees his music as something which is constantly evolving, drawing inspiration from an ever-widening range of influences, and that seeks to connect. So Messed Up is also the second single to be taken from Jono’s forthcoming eighth album, Reconcile. It’s an album that represents something of a comeback for a man who has worked his way through the tumultuous emotions that come from great loss, fatherhood and the subsequent feeling that he wanted to create an album that represents exactly who he is today. Oine & Thomas Lemmer return with another captivating release, their brand new EP Enigma, set to be released on the esteemed ambient and downtempo label, Sine Music. Enigma embodies a sound that is both mysterious and familiar, showcasing the exceptional talent of these two artists. The EP features three distinct versions of the title track, each offering a unique listening experience. Catching Flies makes his debut on Anjunadeep’s sister label Reflections, with a stunning [Strings] EP, featuring five strings reprises of some of his most popular tracks including Satisfied and Opals. Catching Flies, aka multi-instrumentalist, producer, and DJ George King, is a modern musician who seamlessly blends mainstream and underground sounds. Catching Flies’ sound, whilst referencing touch points such as hip-hop, house, soul and jazz, always has a rooting in Electronica, ambient and chillout music. He has released on labels like Anjunadeep, Ninja Tune, and Cercle. Neo-classical composer Cephas Azariah presents the second single Contours from his upcoming debut album Joy Paradox on Reflections. The highly anticipated 12-track LP showcases a deeper side to Cephas’ personal journey, with every track on the album telling a story, as he tends to resolve personal conflicts through music, each piece acts as a gentle unravelling of inner unrest. “This project is a summary of thirty years of life, and a realisation that you can’t have good things without sacrifice” Cephas says. “Achieving success takes a certain level of suffering, and that’s the paradox of joy.” Throughout his life, Cephas has experienced this paradox first-hand. His parents moved to the UK from India when he was ten, and he grew up witnessing the challenges that came with leaving their culture behind and having to adapt to a new one. “Sometimes you have to put something down in order to pick something up,” Cephas says. “And you have to trust that you’re making the right decision.” On the single ‘Contours’, Cephas worked with a cellist called Weslley Coppe to record several layers of piano and cello that flow over and intersect with each other, creating a waterfall of music. “This is all about dance, specifically ballet” Cephas says. “It’s about focusing on the process and the journey rather than the start or end point. Dance speaks to that concept of being present in the process.” Lake Turner says about his incredibly emotional Piano Works album “It's been one year since we lost my brother-in-law to pancreatic cancer. He is sorely missed. I'd known him since I was around 11 years old, so he (probably unknowingly) had a profound effect on me growing up & shaping who I am today. As someone who always supported me, especially in music endeavours - I felt an unwavering desire I should do something in his honour (along with some sense of catharsis that comes with it). I have made a solo piano record of 13 tracks - all proceeds (after Bandcamp fees) will go to Pancreatic Cancer UK. Alternatively you can donate on the this page. I will email you the record (please make sure your email is available). It was recorded in London & Worcestershire & includes ambient drones & field recordings of places he used to frequent in Swanage, Dorset, southeast England. I'm super proud of it & think he would have liked it (but still argued it was not in Nick Cave's league). Mark Barrott releases the first single Pandora from his upcoming 2024 album Everything Changes, Nothing Ends. The album is a profound and deeply personal exploration of life, love, and loss. The album reflects the life Mark had with his late wife, and the harrowing experience of her illness and eventual passing. It stands as both a tribute to her memory and a reflection on the profound impact she had on his life and music. Mark has been a constant innovator throughout his nearly four-decade-long career and has never been one for sitting still musically. His first album Time and Bass in 1996 paved the way for breakbeat futurism within Drum and Bass. His downtempo, introspective 2007 album Memories From A Fading Room featured archival recordings of his family’s aural history and he founded International Feel in 2008 while living in Uruguay, before arriving in Ibiza and releasing the aforementioned Sketches… albums. In 2022, after several years working relentlessly as a producer for varied artists like South African DJ Themba and the late Virgil Abloh, he released Jõhatsu on Anjunadeep’s sister label Reflections. Prophecies by Laura Masotto and Ryan Teague is a suite in three movements incorporating brooding synth work, soaring violin arrangements and rich emotive harmonies and melodies. The Compositions are themed around visions of environmental and ecological collapse, shifting from state of despair to one of hope with devastating effect. Ryan Teague is a composer who’s music combines electronic synthesis and processing with acoustic sources and arrangements to create wholly original contemporary soundscapes. “Laura and I first started working together for the 7K! compilation ‘Duet Layers’. We quickly generated numerous ideas so it seemed obvious to develop further work. It struck me that Laura's emotive string work and my hybrid synthesized arrangements would work well in a sort of miniature symphony in three movements. During the period of composing them I was reading a lot about climate change and ecology. These ideas started to feed into the compositional process as they reflected a darker undertone (composed in three different minor modes), albeit infused with a sense of hope. The pieces were also composed on the Sequential Prophet synthesizer so I started to refer to them as ‘Prophecies’, like visions of our future”. Laura Masotto is a classically-trained Italian violinist in a state of constant exploration. She has released music with 7K! and Deutsche Grammophon amongst others. “While Ryan and I composed ‘Prophecies’ the world was experiencing significant episodes caused by climate change. Floods and droughts are marking this period, seas are polluted, and fires are burning forests. This musical work captures this historical moment when humanity itself is in danger and must urgently find solutions to stem the damage. Despite this, the EP also encapsulates hope, spreading a message of warning through music to take action and regain a broken balance. The pieces we composed reflect the urgency and emotion of the times. The strings I composed in dialogue with Ryan’s synthesizers, communicating how plants exchange nourishment from their roots.” Finishing this mix off with Rone (Inf!né Music) a French electronic music producer real name Erwan Castex. Rone released his debut Bora – EP in 2008, and was followed in 2009 by his acclaimed debut album Spanish Breakfast. His second album Tohu Bohu (2012), composed when living in Berlin, features the international hits Parade and Bye Bye Macadam. Back in Paris after touring the world, Rone composed Creatures (2015), featuring collaborations with The National guitarist Bryce Dessner, French pop icon Étienne Daho, and more. Early 2017, Rone presented a unique creation at the Philharmonie de Paris where he invited friend artists to join the show: John Stanier (Battles), François Marry (Frànçois & The Atlas Mountains), Alain Damasio and the Vacarme trio. The experience was the spark that started Mirapolis, Rone’s fourth studio album in which his neat production blends in perfectly with guest talents KAZU, Saul Williams, Noga Erez, Baxter Dury, Bryce Dessner and John Stanier. 2020 marked a new turn in the artist’s career, starting off with a ten-day carte blanche creation at Paris’ Théâtre du Châtelet with the Ballet National de Marseille. The narrative of the show tackles global issues such as global warming and collapse were the main inspiration for Rone’s fifth album Room with a View, an opus in which he felt the need to connect with his early work of purely instrumental electronic music.
