The Chillout Lounge Mix - Drive

This mix is made to give you drive, positive energy and inspiration. Whether that is to change the world for the better in some way or to just get out of bed and face a new day.

Starting this mix off with something very special. Tom Brownlow, known for his engaging and diverse music style, releases a new album under his alias Sentica. The album, titled Ethereal Shift, is a harmonious blend of indie and electronica, infused with deep, chill, and ambient tones. This creative direction marks a continued evolution in Brownlow's artistic journey. Ethereal Shift is anticipated to be a testament to Brownlow's skill in blending different genres and moods to create an immersive listening experience. This album will be a significant addition to his impressive discography, offering listeners a journey through serene and introspective soundscapes. An album that not only showcases Brownlow's versatility as an artist but also provides a unique and memorable auditory experience, not to be missed. FRCTLS debut EP, Zeit, marks a significant milestone and lays the foundation for an inspiring musical journey. This release crystallises with exceptional clarity and distinctive character the key artistic elements and traits that define the sound and aesthetics of an artist who, with just a handful of singles, is already challenging industry standards in electronic music. Zeit offers a rich tapestry of sonic experiences, transforming electronic sounds into deeply intimate human encounters. The EP features broken beats, syncopated rhythms, intricate melodies, harmonies, and a pure intuitive approach, all of which characterize this compact collection of tracks that vie with one another to captivate our senses. Hailing from London, Kiimi masterfully uses traditional techniques to create innovative and captivating compositions through their unique artistic expression. Latest single, Serotonin, encapsulates a mesmerising auditory journey, infusing it with a euphoric ambience that beautifully compliments the essence of the track's title. Through a delicate blend of light, blissful tones, the song radiates a heartfelt sensitivity as Kiimi's celestial vocals gracefully soar above intricate rhythmic tapestries, enriched with profound subtleties. A testament to Kiimi's skill in harmonising delicate emotional resonance with the artistry of production. MK 3.5: Die Cuts | City Planning shows how Dom Maker and Kai Campos (Warp Records) have grown over the past decade, and demonstrates the two sides of Mount Kimbie’s aesthetic coin - each side produced entirely by either member. Dom’s side, Die Cuts, is colourful and melody-led, thriving on the spark of collaboration; Kai’s, City Planning, is tactile and unpredictable, the product of a deeply personal aesthetic voyage. The two sides complement each other through their contrasts. But in other ways they’re not so different. Both artists present a unique vision which stands apart from their peers; neither side could have been made by anyone but Mount Kimbie. Phonica Records opened its doors in 2003 amidst a climate of closing record stores and splintering genres in electronic music. Founded by Simon Rigg, Tom Relleen and Heidi Van Den Amstel with backing from The Vinyl Factory (who run FACT Magazine and the original EMI vinyl pressing plant), Phonica’s goal was to be a destination for all kinds of dance and electronic music and to be a welcoming, knowledgeable hub, open to all. The shop opened with little fanfare but slowly built up a strong word-of-mouth reputation, initially bolstered by the trio’s relationship to their previous shop, Koobla Records, based nearby on Berwick Street. During Phonica’s early years, it carved out a niche for itself championing new genres such as electro house, minimal and micro house, mostly from German labels such as Kompakt, Perlon & Playhouse. In 2007, Phonica’s eponymous record label launched, initially to put out records by its enthusiastic DJ and producer staff members such as Hector, Anthea and Will Saul. It also quickly became a place to introduce new artists - putting out early releases on by now well-known producers such as Peggy Gou, Paul Woolford and Midland - as well as harnessing the talents of well-respected legends like Four Tet and Roman Flugel, Asyncronous and Dorisburg. Fast-forward to 2023 and the label has gone from strength to strength, spawning a number of sub-labels; Phonica White, Phonica Records Special Editions, Karakul and the recently launched Phonica AM, each with its own musical flavour and direction. To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Phonica’s launch, we asked our favourite producers and friends to give us exclusive tracks for a brand new compilation, our second following 2013’s well-received Ten Years Of Phonica. Pornbugs are on a roll, and return with an exciting new release Cielos and Artica with remix support from Dachshund and Steve Kelley. Pornbugs continue to impress with a solid two tracker of deep techy house vibes. With nearly 20 years in the industry, the pair have seen many changes. One thing to remain constant is the quality of their output, and these are no exception. Cielos glistens on a bed of groovy percussion and tribal bass. Hypnotic and satisfyingly deep, the trippy melodics and spoken word sample interact with precision and style. Artica follows suit with a gritty bass-led vibe and swinging hats. Rhodesy keys and icy pads add drama and tension. Legendary DJ John Digweed unveils his new album Futuro, a jam-packed compilation out via Bedrock Records on 17th November. Futuro sees John Digweed bringing together an all-star arsenal of synth-drenched acid house. Featuring 25 exclusive tracks from luminary artists such as Carerra & Tavares, Davi, Of Norway, 8Kays, Weska and Madben, the album has been carefully curated and compiled and mixed by the UK legend himself. "I am really proud of this latest album, there are so many amazing producers that have delivered some incredible music ranging from ambient to house, breaks, techno and so much more.” John Digweed explains. “I have always strived to deliver mixes that feature a wide range of styles and Futuro is a perfect example of this. I hope you will enjoy the journey.” Back to the fold with the first extract taken from his upcoming debut album on A Tribe Called Kotori, Fabian Krooss takes us to a delicate and transporting headspace with his twofold single, Oh Darlin'. Infused with laid-back Chicagoan rhythms and feelgood Afro soulfulness, this opening brace of cuts from the German producer weaves solar-powered sensitivity with vaporous floor dynamics to hypnotic effect. An ode to impro and the free-flowing power of gut instinct, Krooss' newest offering translates thousands of places, feelings, moments and encounters into a buoyant melting-pot of debonair grooviness. "Producing has a meditative and balancing effect on me" Krooss says, and it definitely shines through in these, as we're taken on a seamless ride up serene moodscapes and ethereal club-ready apexes. Where The Shadow Ends introduces Autumn Serenades, a delightful compilation of 12 tracks from the likes of DSF, Mule (arg), VieL, Edu Schwartz and Los Cabra. The collection captures the essence of autumn, offering a diverse range of musical styles to complement the season's unique charm. From soulful melodies to hypnotic rhythms, Autumn Serenades is the perfect soundtrack for cosy evenings and reflective walks. A musical journey through the beauty and nostalgia of autumn in a captivating compilation. Addi Stefansson announces the release of his new EP, a captivating blend of breakbeats, jazz, and melodic electronica. Titled Liberation, Hologram, and Pink Gin, the 3 track EP encapsulates a journey of personal growth and profound self-reflection. Addi Stefansson's latest work is an introspective exploration of breaking free from old patterns and embarking on a path toward inner peace. Thomas Lemmer & Oine (Adrián Márquez) (Sine Music) recently joined forces to collaborate on their album titled One Vision. This groundbreaking project transcends boundaries by merging various electronic music genres. The single Drift uses gentle piano melodies to sweep you away as you surrender to the soft, danceable beat that beckons your soul to move. Dive into the depths of deep house, where ambient textures warmly embrace you, and a beautiful melody weaves a tapestry of emotion. Experience the organic soundscapes and electronic magic that define this track, where a mesmerizing synth line and deep basses transport you to a world of sonic wonder. And for those seeking the ultimate audio experience, "Drift" is also available in Dolby Atmos, enveloping you in a three-dimensional sonic journey (available on Apple Music and Tidal). Ghost Singers are an online / world wide band started in scotland by songwriter Brian O’neill who cherry picks the best talent youtube has to offer and invites them to perform his songs. The artists involved come from australia, usa, spain, england, canada, Brazil, and South Africa so it’s truly a global affair. The album Schizophrenic Lovesick Blues comes out later this year. Founder Brian O’neill has led a very colourful life and in many ways its incredible he is still here having been knocked over by a train and surviving numerous suicide attempts due to his Schizophrenia. All of this has inspired him to create something very special indeed. Purl is the first alias of Ludvig Cimbrelius, currently also recording as Illuvia, Eternell and Abraço de Vapor. He makes the most beautiful, relaxing and sublime music perfect for meditation and chilling. An ambient drift version of Bortom Molnen will eventually be shared with subscribers on Bandcamp (eternell.bandcamp.com/a-home-in-the-sky) and his newly started Patreon (patreon.com/LudvigCimbrelius). This and future exclusive tracks will only be available to those who are subscribed at the time of sharing.
