The Chillout Lounge Mix - Introspective

An introspective journey into what really moves me emotionally through sound, hope you feel it.

I have a lot of really nice music for you starting with renowned electronic and downtempo mastermind Tor who arrives with his first album in four years, Oasis Sky, the album is a unique brand of pulsating electronica which traverses through ambient soundscapes, highlighting manipulated vocal chops, moody chords with hints of breakbeats and intelligent organic percussion strewn throughout. Canadian producer Joe Silva is no stranger to electronic music’s discerning ears, releasing through his Purespace imprint since 1995, Silva specialises in an organic approach to synthetic sounds resulting in music that’s consistently warm, forward-looking, and groovy, his latest release The Final EP, is no exception. Braxton (Anjunadeep) next and he had this to say about his Indigo EP; “When the UK lockdown started I was massively uninspired. I felt I couldn't write while there was nothing going on. But there was so much going on - it just wasn't going on outside. I realised that in the days when I'd been physically free, I'd been emotionally trapped. And I'm sure I wasn't the only one. The physical restriction forced a lot of us to look internally.” It seems to happen often that artists do their most poetic work in difficult times. Bicep have a Digital Deluxe album with three new tracks - Siena (Feat. Clara La San), Light and Meli (I). Speaking of Siena they say: “This track took many forms in the demo stage including much more melodic versions and multiple vocal directions. In the end, a much more restrained track felt best, letting Clara's vocals shine. We're both excited to develop this and explore the other versions in our live shows.” The sublime Nuage who I’m a big fan of features twice in this mix, one track is from his forthcoming album Double Mind, the other is collaborating with pianist and composer Omfeel in their album Our Language which features electronic and acoustic parts, to help the listener discover both sides of their collaboration; highly recommend this album. Keep an eye on Ebrahimi who makes his debut on Loot Recordings with Bland Molnen, when translated from Swedish means “Among The Clouds". It’s a fitting title for the track as gentle rhythms of acoustic guitars, ethereal voices and floating pads create a deep and rhythmic atmosphere that carries us away, Powel & Ale Russo Remixes also available that are worth checking out. Daydreamers, Vol. 2 an ambient compilation released on the utterly blissful 3rd Avenue is available now, I chose a track by Beije called Candescence as it hit my emotional strings big time but there are lots of quality tracks to choose from in the album. Formed in Oxford in 2005, Foals are a critically-acclaimed rock band renowned for their energetic live shows and ambitious genre-bending albums. Drawing influence from wide-ranging sources, they have continued to embrace and explore new sonic ideas throughout their career. KUU remixes their track Wash Off which is taken from Foals sixth studio album Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost - Part 2 released in 2019, the album became the band's first to reach No. 1 on the UK Albums Chart. Next up is a track called Follow, from Time To Recover, the debut album by Feiertag, which features the enchanting and multifaceted voice of Tessa Rose Jackson. The twice Grammy-nominated Hiatus Kaiyote share a new song and video from their forthcoming album Mood Valiant, out June 25th via Brainfeeder Records / Ninja Tune. Written in an act of spontaneous composition, Red Room was born out of a bass and drum groove by band members Paul Bender and Perrin Moss when the group went to Rio de Janeiro in 2019 to work with legendary Brazilian arranger Arthur Verocai, who features on their previously-released single Get Sun. The song Meant To Be feat. K.ZIA by Yuphoric is meant to be a hug to all people, to love yourself and carry this love further; three individuals from three continents who were brought together by their common love of music. Candid and expressive, Sedric Perry traces his soulful sound back to Philadelphia. After living in New York City, he has incorporated that sound into a blend of jazzy, groovy R&B. Home, by Japanese classical guitarist & producer, Paniyolo (Tsunami Sounds) made for the album Akari, which means light in English, was planned early 2021 during the continued stressful times in the US, with a goal to uplift their audience and capture the breezy, uplifting and carefree emotions of classic Japanese producers such as Nujabes and Uyama Hiroto, Home features a simple Lofi beat over soothing and quiet acoustic guitar melodies with a feeling of both happiness and melancholy that lingers with the song. My favourite new artist Alex Donofrio who has featured on the podcast heavily next with another sublime track called Out There, an emotional piano piece that channels an ambience of a passage, with energy that exudes both vulnerability & liberation of just being somewhere out in space… Such a cinematic ambient build up then burst of emotion when his vocal hits, Alex is already making massive musical waves, I expect them to keep getting bigger! Last but certainly not least, the stunning pianist and composer Niklas Paschburg (!K7) gets his track Husky Train (from the recent album Svalbard) remixed by the talented Ah! Kosmos, really cool and classy vibe added to the already beautiful original version.
