Opening with my track Lucid (Numen Records), which is about lucid dreaming, something I’ve done since being a young child. More recently it's helped me dream about making music, especially when listening to projects just before sleep. One of my favourite things to do is fly in dreams, which is why there is a person flying on the cover art. Being lucid is not always about being in control of your body, it can be like watching a film, and a great way to connect with deep thoughts of self and others. Andrew Halford aka Lake Turner is one of my favourite artists and I’m excited he is on Sasha’s label Last Night On Earth with a four track EP called Further Now, which showcases Lake Turner’s ever expanding sonic palette in the electronic realm, and brings some fresh angles - including a triumphant collaboration with super gifted Brazilian producer Gui Boratto. He previously made music in post-punk and indie groups Great Eskimo Hoax (Rallye) and Trophy Wife (Moshi Moshi). His debut full length Videosphere was released on Kompakt in 2020 receiving plaudits from The Guardian. It was the first time he fully articulated his own vision of electronic music. Lake Turner: "Automat is a title that refers to the ways of city life and its automated nature. An automat itself is a vending machine for fast food which is like a modern day totem for life on the grid. The ebb & flow of the city can sometimes be intense and hyper-vivid & the track is a reflection of that." British musician / producer / DJ Bonobo and Canadian musician Jacques Greene have released a new single called Fold, issued on Bonobo’s OUTLIER label in partnership with Ninja Tune. Fold is Bonobo’s first new music of 2023 and arrives almost exactly one year after the release of his latest full-length album Fragments (Ninja Tune). While Greene joined Bonobo on his Fragments tour this past summer, this is their first-ever musical collaboration. The Gardens of Babylon label invites you to dive into a world of emotive melodic beats and captivating vocals with the new EP What if I from KIDSØ and Natascha Polké. The Munich-based duo, known for their live synthesisers and drums, join forces with Swiss producer and singer-songwriter Natascha Polké to bring you three awe-inspiring deep house cuts on the EP. GRAMMY-winning producer and one third of electronic trio NERO, Joseph Ray, announces new club-focused single Give Me A Reason. The latest in a long line of impressive productions from the producer, Joseph Ray's Give Me A Reason ties his signature rolling percussion and swelling synth lines together into a steady and euphoric climax. The track is sure to be a hit on the electronic scene in 2023, and has already been road-tested by Joseph Ray at Anjunadeep's label takeover of iconic venue Printworks London, where it received a resoundingly positive response. In high demand as a DJ and with multiple millions of streams under his belt for his recent releases, Murge kicks off 2023 with his track Virtue coming via Emancipator’s Loci Records imprint. Fusing 2-step and house influences on the track he forges a unique sound that traces influences back to classic UK dance yet is arranged and produced with undeniably modern sensibilities that can only come from the understanding of a producer who gets in front of live crowds on the regular. It’s one that will appeal to all lovers of dance, and gets bodies moving. Anjunadeep welcomes UK-based duo TIBASKO to the label with their stellar remix of Nils Hoffmann's Far Behind, taken from Nils' recently released album A Radiant Sign. Having recently gained the "Hottest Record on BBC Radio 1" award with their single Hawt, TIBASKO have quickly risen through the ranks, with regular support on BBC Radio 1, KissFM and SiriusXM. In their latest offering, TIBASKO utilises Panama's dreamy vocals adding rising arpeggios and broken beats to create an emotive electronica rework. Matt Klear - Moon (Stripped Recordings) is a quality breaks track which rises and falls in style with confident production. Being inundated with so much quality music Sound Avenue created Crossfade Sounds to have a platform to get more of it out to the electronic music community. At the time of the labels inception it was an imprint to not only accompany Sound Avenue but to explore different realms of the sonic envelope. Darper remixes Dott. Santafeo’s track Basileo Regolo to sublime effect. Ready Mix Records presents label release number 258, the stunning Voyage by Sobhan, with remixes by BiGz, Akuba, DeVante, Green George and Fourth State Turiya. Born in Iran, now residing in Australia, Sobhan has enjoyed previous releases on Art Vibes Music, Monada Project, as well as Ready Mix. Embracing raw and primitive global nomadic sounds, Sobhan, along with a few like minded people, host the Solouk club night in Perth, and has warmed up for the likes of &ME, Budakid, Matthias Meyer, HNQO and Way Out West among many others. Voyage is a deep and melodic gem, encompassing global influences into an effortless and atmospheric ethno groove. Ready Mix don BiGz strips Voyage down to bare bones and rebuilds it as a slick and moody groover, with a surprisingly uplifting new chord progression. Deep Dive Corp was formed in 1999 in Hamburg, Germany. The driving force and featured guitarist of the group is Peter Musebrink. To this date DDC has released eight albums and many digital releases. After quite some time there’s another new collaboration with bass legend Hellmut Hattler. The track Redefine is a strong groover driven by an unmistakable Hattler baseline and piano melody. Sequence, the first single from Haquin’s debut album (Outtalectuals), features Piksel on violins and vocals from LARA. Playing on the theme of wakefulness, the song embodies a sense of overcoming and glides through ethereal soundscapes. The rich textural introduction and bridge sections are contrasted with a warming downtempo / future garage groove first section, before climaxing with a leftfield juke-inspired rhythm and descending back to the ground. An avid musician from a young age, electronic producer VOLO crafts deeply emotive & cinematic soundscapes that resonate with potent spirituality and creative dexterity. Embodying the wonder and triumph of Mother Earth, VOLO artfully fuses together world instruments, ethereal soundscapes, and driving synths. In the process, his tracks defy genres and constraints, oscillating between orchestral production, future bass, house, and downtempo. Carefully crafting intricate layers and textures of sound, VOLO leaves fans discovering new details with every listen. VOLO’s music making can be seen as a personal journal where memories become lessons and thoughts become an orchestra of emotions paint a sonic tapestry that strongly embraces the joy of being alive. In The Echo aims at a more meditative and relaxing vibe and there is an album on the way in this style. Livet Vänder Inte Åter by the gifted Purl was composed in the city of İstanbul during the past moon of December. It contains fragments from vastly different parts of my life, blended with recordings made while wandering among these continual streams of people, animals, vehicles of all kinds, passing street musicians on the way down to the calming waves of the strait, the seagulls circling above. Everything somehow falling together, in me, and I, a part of everything. I’ve collaborated with the super talented soundscape shaper Kevin Paczesny with an ethereal ambient track called I Close My Eyes released on Ambient Musical Genre who have a huge following on YouTube and a constant supply of wonderful music for you to tune into. Northern Form’s new single Mello arrives with a haunting yet beautiful intensity. Vocal chants and harplike arpeggios intertwine on top of deep drum loops (with a huge glass shattering snare sound) and rumbling synth bass. It makes for an all-round goosebump inducing and spine tingling ambience. His unique fusion of downtempo beats, global textures and dancefloor sensibilities have established him a loyal worldwide following that only grows with every new release. James Vine releases the first new music under his Itona alias since 2021; the dreamily atmospheric, meditative lofi house cut Bones. Ending the mix with something special from Dot Major who started his musical journey with London Grammar as the drummer and pianist. He delves into a new world of glistening synths, crisp drum work and top-tier production with his solo project. Springing into the electronic dance music world, Dot Major manages to expertly carve his own instantly-recognisable, timeless sound. I’m certain there are lots to look forward to here starting with Bear.
